A Magical Retreat Together!
It has been nearly a week since we all packed up our cars with trust, anticipation, and desert survival essentials to best enjoy a new experience together within the Secular Sabbath landscape. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. One of things we walked home with was this sense of peace - no major breakthroughs, or breakdowns. Just a renewed sense of inspiration, joy, and hope for the community we are building together. If Secular Sabbath is a tree, each of you are now your own branch of it. And feeling into the season of spring, we can’t wait to see the creative endeavors blossoming out of you from this space. It takes a lot of effort, organizing, and trust to join us for these retreats. I don’t take that for granted. Thank you for taking the time out of your life to spend time with us.
In the afterglow, we wanted to share a little bit about our collaborators, who made this experience possible from our end.
🍄 YAWN
If you spent time in the larger-than-life mushroom garden this last weekend, you probably met the incredible ladies behind YAWN. Our collaboration with these powerhouse ladies was born out of mutual admiration of our idiosyncratic external dreamscapes. So far, YAWN realizes the dreamscape through their superior apparel and we have through our one-of-a-kind event experiences. Together, it feels like a deeper magic.
YAWN is a movement rooted in de-stigmatizing and providing educational opportunities for people to actualize mushroom wellness in their daily lives. Secular Sabbath with YAWN hopes to build this landscape out through our event experiences and the talismans created through it. We are intrigued by the way that objects and clothing can hold memories (talismans).
We believe our sweatshirt and baby T collab can bring you back into that space of creativity and community at home or wherever you find yourself in the world, when we aren’t together.

Pivotal moments for us this last weekend were facilitated by Othership. As we set the tone for the weekend, Amanda and Harry brought us into our historical selves through the Inner Child breathwork activation, giving us permission to breathe into a nowness outside of time. Joshua Trees communicate underground and share a water system so that all of the trees can share enough water to thrive together. Even though we aren’t all together anymore, there is an opportunity to water our shared Secular Sabbath garden through staying in contact. We want to open the floor on our discord channel to connect with friends you made this weekend, engage in discussions you maybe never finished, and share art you’ve made inspired by this time together. Secular Sabbath is our garden - it only grows as we all water it :)
